A (very) intimate screening of “Ur_Tadhana’s” season finale

A (very) intimate screening of “Ur_Tadhana’s” season finale

If the personal journey of Ur_Tadhana’s lead actor is any indication, it’ll take a while for the character of Yosefina Fierce to live up to his name. At last night’s season finale screening of the web series, actor Brigs Aricheta shared how unlike his character Yosef, being self-assured keeps him from chasing after guys—even if they’re as cute as lovable closet case, Justin (played by Opi Eusebio).

Just as gay app BLUED allows users to connect and open themselves up via webcast, so too did the cast, crew, and fans who came together at Dulo in Poblacion. Over beers, the path to self-celebration, often marked by detours of discrimination, became a point of discussion. The series’s creator, Fifth Solomon, talked about an ex who once told him he was “too gay.” Actor Marcus Asis shared realizations from his days of bullying and being kicked out of schools, while Brigs shattered the stereotype on femme boys as exclusive bottoms. “Ako ang magfu-fuck sa kanila,” he declared of the audience when the topic of his fuckability arose in jest.

After a marathon of the past four episodes and a season finale that felt like an emotional fisting of sorts (but wanting for more considering BLUED has announced a second season), the gathering could only get more intimate. Most especially when a game of Suck and Blow got a few attendees to swap spit and the post-screening beats of DJ Boy Kills Robot got the crowd to share body heat. We all know that BLUED can get a community closer, be it through Blued Group meet-ups or the opportunity to discuss a beloved series. But dancing to Dua Lipa after a talk on effem-powerment only breeds the kind of closeness that can give fierce of mind.

Catch the season finale of Ur_Tadhana tonight at 6PM.

Hey, queer reader or ally.
The facts are as obvious as Manny Pacquiao’s homophobia: in order to run a decent website that our queer tastes deserve, your favorite gay Asian publication could use a real TEAM effort from its readers.\
If you’d like to see more of TEAM, we hope you can take the time to help your homos out.

About Team

TEAM tackles how gay Filipino men relate their identity, from fuckups to fantasies, to where to go for music you can actually dance to. We may not have proper rights in our country but we’re claiming some authority by getting our words and ideas on page. And though we lack public places to convene, an open publication (and wide-open digital space) is a good place to start.
